Oak Park parking garage may be razed sooner than expected
 | | The parking garage at Lake and Forest sits in the background as crews worked to demolish the buildings in front of it during August. ANDY JOHNSTON/Staff | Thursday, September 02, 2010 Web Extra! A large and decaying public garage at the corner of Lake and Forest in Oak Park may be reduced to rubble a little sooner than expected. And in the meantime, the developer planning to build a 20-story hotel and condo complex on the site may need more time to line up financing. The aging 340-space garage was built in 1974, and village officials say it's reaching the end of its useful life. That's why Village Hall finalized a deal in March to partner with a developer to replace the garage as part of a larger development. |
